Club Goals, Programme and Activities 2005/06

BUILDING THE TEAM SPIRIT

The New Kingston Club prides itself with a team spirit which is the envy of many. But, naturally we will stop at nothing to further strengtheni team spirit. For this year, this will be manifest through a number of initiatives including:-

1.      Increased membership interaction, fellowship and  group activities

2.      Refocusing on what the Spirit of Rotary is all about

3.     Conducting team/membership competitions

4.    Arranging special business meetings at which Club, District and RI related matters and other relevant issues are openly discussed

5.      Organising greater and more frequent fellowship activities and even using community service activities for fun and fellowship. For example, the repainting of  pedestrian crossings in the New Kingston area which is an annual activity of the club is hard work, but it can also serve as an opportunity for great fun as well.

7.     Organise the annual cricket match with another Club

8.  Introduction of a members' musical evening i.e. members either playing or bringing a selection of their favourite CD’s.

·        FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES

A number of activities are planned to raise funds necessary to support the various Club charities and projects. Among these are:-

1. An Evening of Excellent Music featuring some of Jamaica's finest performers -- Paulette Bellamy, Jon Williams, Karen Smith, Dean Fraser, Michael Harris, Velia Espeut.  That function takes place Sunday September 19, 2005 at the Sir Phillip Sherlock (Creative Arts) Centre, UWI

·        GETTING EXCELLENT GUEST SPEAKERS

Awareness building of Rotary and the club is greatly enhanced by having calibre guest speakers and this year will be no different. At three meetings each month will attract media coverage through having quality speakers of note, drawn from a diverse field. In addition to encouraging wider media coverage, the club's own newsletter Early Riser  provide coverage of speakers
