Clive McLean
President 2009/10 |
Welcome to the official website of the Rotary Club of New Kingston,
where for this 2009/10 Rotary year, the club will celebrate 20 years of
sterling service.
Like so many charitable / not for profit service
organizations in these times of great economic uncertainty, our club is
not immune to the effects of these challenges and how they will affect
our ability to continue the Rotary tradition of service above self.
Nonetheless, we will not let the challenges prevent us from continuing
the work what is so necessary for the upliftment of our communities and
those who need our help.
So even as we celebrate our own milestone this year,
we will continue to our tradition of service projects -- establishing food
self-sufficiency garden; bring joy to the elderly; assisting the treatment and care of our young
children through provision of ventilators at hospitals and organizing
community health fairs and other service programmes to the wider community.
Ours is a commitment to serve and to make our communities and the
world a better place even as we recognize that the "future of Rotary is
in our hands."
As Rotarians, we are privileged to be part of the
oldest and largest service organization in the world and I know that
with your wholehearted support and commitment I am confident we will
have another successful year in the life of our club.

On Friday, July 03, 2009, the Rotary Club of
New Kingston engaged in its annual exercise of changing the
guards – a century old Rotary tradition of peaceful transition
of leadership.
It might not seem as any big thing; perhaps
just an exercise which most take for granted, but to be able to
change Presidents peacefully, without bullets or even ballots,
is not an everyday occurrence, certainly not at the level of our
politics and in so many other spheres. So, as Rotarians, we can
take pride in the fact that what we have been able to accomplish
in the peaceful and orderly transition of leadership, especially
in today’s world is not any ordinary feat.
